About Mike Sagman

Dr. Mike Sagman began his undergraduate education at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, where he majored in chemistry and biology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1973 from the Medical College of Virginia.

While on active duty in the U.S. Army Dental Corps between 1973 and 1975, he provided reconstructive, restorative and cosmetic dental services. Over his two years serving his country, Captain Mike Sagman was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In 1975, he was awarded the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service to his country.

Moving back to Virginia, Dr. Sagman established a private dental practice in Newport News. From 1975 to 2014, he served as the practice’s principal dentist and provided restorative, cosmetic, prosthetic and reconstructive dental services to the community.

Dr. Sagman is a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International Colleges of Dentists as well as a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Dental Honor Society.

In 2008, after losing his dog to contaminated dog food, Dr. Mike Sagman founded DogFoodAdvisor.com, a website dedicated to providing dog owners with unbiased dog food ratings to help dog owners choose the best food for their pets. He serves as Managing Editor of the The Dog Food Advisor website, which today hosts more than 950 individual dog food reviews.
